The feud between "Iron Man" star Gwyneth Paltrow and Vanity Fair may be heating up, as the magazine is probing a rumored affair between the actress and Miami billionaire Jeff Soffer.

Paltrow, who has been married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin since 2003, reportedly told friends this summer to not comment about her in a story for Vanity Fair.

"Now we’re told that researchers on the story by top VF writer Vanessa Grigoriadis have been asking Miami society sources questions about Paltrow and Soffer, who is considered Miami royalty, owns the lavish Fontainebleau Hotel and recently married Elle Macpherson," the New York Post reported.

"Vanity Fair is asking if Gwyneth had an affair with Jeff back in 2008 when he reopened the Fontainebleau. He flew her in for the party, and she stayed at his house."

A Paltrow spokesperson denied that the actress had a romantic relationship with Soffer.

"Jeff is a longtime friend of Gwyneth's and there was no romantic relationship with him at all, He flew many of his friends to Miami that weekend — not just Gwyneth," the rep said.

Vanity Fair has started striking a negative chord with Hollywood elites, like Brad Pitt over a story they did on "World War Z" and with Tom Cruise over a piece on Scientology's negative impact on his marriage to Katie Holmes.

"Everyone grovels to Graydon and other writers there and covets invitations to their parties," Leslee Dart, a publicist whose clients include Tom Hanks, Woody Allen and Meryl Streep, told the New York Times. "They’re going to be in for a rude awakening. I don't think people care the way they used to anymore. It's not important to them to grovel as they once did."

In May, Paltrow opened up about the challenges of her marriage to Glamour U.K.

"It's hard being married," she said. "I'm a very grounded, homey person, and Chris is a very mad scientist, genius songwriter. So I never say, 'Where are you? You should be home by now.'"
