Harold Ramis, the writer-director of "Caddyshack" who also starred in and helped write "Ghostbusters," died Monday at age 69, his wife
Erica Mann Ramis told The Chicago Tribune.
Ramis died from complications autoimmune inflammatory vasculitis, his wife told the Tribune, which is a rare disease that causes blood vessels to swell.

In addition to his writing work on 1993's "Groundhog Day" starring Bill Murray and 1999's "Analyze This," which starred Robert DeNiro and Billy Crystal, on screen, Ramis himself played Dr. Egon Spengler in "Ghostbusters" and "Ghostbusters II."
He also has writing credits for "National Lampoon's Animal House," "Stripes," and "National Lampoon's Vacation."
More recently, he wrote episodes for NBC's "The Office" before the show ended its run in May 2013 and appeared as Seth Rogen's character's father in the film "Knocked Up."
Fans of Ramis, and even celebrities, took to Twitter to express their feelings about his death.
