Classic HBO programs like "The Wire" and "The Sopranos" will be available next month to Amazon Prime customers through a multiyear online streaming agreement.
The jointly announced deal makes select HBO programming available on Amazon's Prime Instant Video beginning May 21.

"As owners of our original programming, we have always sought to capitalize on that investment," Glenn Whitehead,
HBO's executive vice president of business and legal affairs, said in a statement. "Given our longstanding relationship with Amazon, we couldn't think of a better partner to entrust with this valuable collection."
In addition to "The Wire" and "The Sopranos," HBO's first streaming agreement with a subscription service includes other full seasons of "Six Feet Under," "Big Love," "Deadwood," "Eastbound & Down," "Family Tree," "Enlightened," "Treme," and early seasons of "Boardwalk Empire" and "True Blood."
Miniseries like "Band of Brothers" and "John Adams," original movies such as "Too Big to Fail" and "Game Change," and comedy specials from Lewis Black, Louis C.K., and Ellen Degeneres, will also be available.
Shows such as "Girls" and "The Newsroom" will join the rotation once they've aired for three seasons on HBO.
Notably absent are "Game of Thrones," "Entourage," and "Sex and the City."
The exclusive content provided to Amazon won't be available to streaming competitors Netflix and Hulu.
The company also said HBO GO will be available on its recently launched Amazon Fire TV set-top box by the end of 2014.
"HBO original content is some of the most popular across Amazon Instant Video — our customers love watching these shows," Brad Beale, director of content acquisition for Amazon said in the statement. "Now Prime members can enjoy a collection of great HBO shows on an unlimited basis, at no additional cost to their Prime membership."
Amazon charges customers $99 a year for free two-day shipping as well as unlimited access to Prime Instant Video, and also provides original content through its Amazon Studios Division.
