Heather North died. The actress best known as the voice of Daphne in "Scooby-Doo" was 71, Fox News said.
Family friend Jodie Mann confirmed this with the Hollywood Reporter, saying North had been battling a long illness, to which she succumbed on Nov. 30 at her home in Studio City.
The actress officially joined the cast of "Scooby-Doo" in September 1970 as the voice of Daphne on the second season opener.
Over the next 30 years she would appear in various other incarnations of the cartoon, including a notable return in "The New Scooby-Doo Movies " in 1972, before making her final credit in the 2003 "Scooby-Doo! and the Monster of Mexico," Fox News reported.
Aside from her voicing talent, North was also built a successful acting career upon her performances as Sandy Horton in the soap opera, "Days of Our Lives," BBC noted.
It was here that she met her husband, show producer Wes Kenney, to whom she was married from 1971 till his death in 2015.
Since news of North's death broke, tributes have been pouring in on social media.
"R.I.P Heather North. Another great legend died. Let's all pay homage to this great actress," wrote a fan on Facebook.
