Hillary Clinton's Father's Tombstone Toppled in PA: Was It Vandalism?

The tombstone of Hillary Clinton's father, Hugh Rodham, was found tipped over the day after she announced her presidential bid, and some suspect it could be an act of vandalism.

"It was just laying down just right like that, boom," cemetery caretaker Paul McGloin said Tuesday as he showed off a sizable ground dent to a reporter from WNEP-TV in Pennsylvania.

"I hope this had nothing to do with politics because that's just wrong," McGloin soon told The Scranton Times-Tribune.

Scranton Police Chief Carl Graziano said Rodham's gravestone was intact and turned upright once again on Tuesday afternoon.

He, too, suspected foul play but did not name any suspects.

"I'm not sure how else it would have fallen over," he said.

Neil Regan, who directed Rodham's funeral in 1993, said that no other headstones in Washburn Street Cemetery were found overturned on Monday, adding that it is very unlikely that weather played a part.

"The more I thought about it, there were no serious winds or weather events yesterday and Paul McGloin told me he had driven by here eight o'clock yesterday morning and the stone was in place," said Regan.
