Home Depot is in hot water after posting a racist tweet this week, which angry Twitter users read as comparing African-American men to chimpanzees.
The home improvement store took to the social networking site Thursday to promote College Gameday, and though Home Depot's motivation may have been legitimate, its execution was questionable.
The racist tweet immediately drew outrage.
Home Depot promptly deleted the tweet and issued an apology.
"We're also closely reviewing our social media procedures to determine how this could have happened, and how to ensure it never happens again,"
Home Depot told NBC News.
After the rage died down, many people said they didn’t think the photo and caption was that big of a deal.
