Hope Solo, an American soccer goalie and Olympic gold medalist, wants prosecutors to drop the misdemeanor assault charges she's facing in connection to a drunken June fight with her sister and teenage nephew in Seattle.
Todd Maybrown, Solo's attorney, filed a motion
Monday to dismiss the charges, The Associated Press reported. A Washington, municipal court judge set a Nov. 4 trial date in the case.
"As expected, and as is normal in misdemeanor cases, today's hearing was about setting a
trial date," Maybrown told the Seattle Times in an email. "We're pleased that both sides, and the judge, agreed to a November date and we look forward to the opportunity for the truth about this incident to be disclosed which will clear Hope's name."

The soccer star appeared in court Monday with her husband, former
Seattle Seahawks tight end Jerramy Stevens, according to KOMO-TV.
Officials say Solo, the goalie for the U.S. women's soccer team, was
drunk when she allegedly hit her sister and 17-year-old nephew during a domestic violence incident at her home in Kirkland, Washington. She could spend up to six months in jail if convicted, according to the Seattle Times.
The AP reported that Solo had previously entered a plea of not guilty to two counts of fourth-degree domestic violence. She also issued an apology to her fans on Facebook after the incident.
This isn’t the first time Solo has been involved in a domestic violence dispute. In November 2012, her then-boyfriend Stevens was arrested after an altercation that reportedly left Solo injured.
He was later released on lack of evidence and the pair wed the next day.
