The hugging dogs from Angels Among Us Pet Rescue found a home just two hours after the animal rescue shelter posted a photo of the furry buddies on its Facebook page Monday pleading for someone to adopt them and save them from euthanization.
On Monday, the pet rescue wrote on its Facebook page, “Today is their last day unless we can save them. This is as urgent as urgent can get. We really don't have time to spare. We have no fosters available. Animals in need have overwhelmed us recently and we must have someone today apply to foster.”
Along with the post, Angels Among Us showed a photo of Kala wrapping her paws around Keira followed by a “plea for help” written from Kala’s point of view.
“[Keira’s] so brave and tells me it will be okay no matter what happens. She tells me to be brave too but I don't know if I can be . . . If no one saves us, someone will take her away from me. I'll see her as she goes down the hallway. She won't come back and I'll cry. They'll come for me next and I won't be as brave. We've comforted each other while we were here. She gave me hope when I had none.”
This post received more than 16,000 likes, nearly 9,000 shares, and almost 3,000 comments. Angels Among Us updated the post later with a picture of the pups and their new owner, saying, “THEY ARE SAFE!!! There are no words to tell you how happy we are that these two best friends are safe and together!”
The hugging dogs were driven by a volunteer to a veterinarian before being
delivered to their new owner, according to the Daily Mail.
Angels Among Us is an Atlanta-based rescue shelter that has a two-fold mission, according to its website: To educate the public on the plight of animals and the necessity of spaying and neutering them for responsible ownership, as well as to save as many animals as possible from kill shelters while seeing them through the rescue, foster, and adoption processes.
