Hurricane Seymour: Cat 4 Storm in Pacific Has Nowhere to Land

Wednesday, 26 October 2016 05:15 AM EDT ET

Hurricane Seymour continued to move across the Pacific on Wednesday as a powerful Category 4 storm, far from Mexico's coast.

The hurricane's maximum sustained winds early Wednesday were near 150 mph, but the U.S. National Hurricane Center said rapid weakening was expected to begin later in the day and continue through Thursday night.

Seymour was centered about 740 miles southwest of the southern tip of Mexico's Baja California peninsula and was moving west-northwest near 14 mph.

The hurricane is not currently a threat to any land.
