Instagram star Alexis Sharkey's naked body was found on the side of a road in Texas, it was revealed on Monday. According to reports, the 26-year-old was last seen leaving her apartment on Friday night, following an argument. It is unclear who the argument was with but the New York Post reported that Sharkey had purchased the apartment with her estranged husband in July.
The social media influencer did not take her car and was not reachable that night. Sharkey's husband called her family the following day to say she was missing. Her body was discovered three miles from her apartment on Saturday morning by city workers driving down the street. There were no visible wounds.
Sharkey's mother, Stacey Robinault, said she believes her daughter was murdered.
"I do. I do believe she was murdered. Yes," she said, per ABC7. "From what I've been able to gather as well as a mother's gut. I learned very young as a mom to trust my gut. It's not let me down," she continued. "We're very broken. We're very broken-hearted. It's just painful for someone so bright and having so much to offer ... just to be gone, to be snuffed out. I don't know why. I don't know why. The horrific nature of her last moments must've been ... I can't even. I can't even go there."
Sharkey had over 30,000 followers on Instagram. She often posted about her beauty routine and shared photos of her fashion. Her cause of death is pending an autopsy by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
