An Iowa family reported missing while on vacation in Mexico was found dead in the condo where they were staying.

Kevin Wayne Sharp, his wife Amy, and their kids Sterling and Adrianna were reported missing by relatives Thursday night after they did not return from a vacation to Tulum, Mexico and missed a family event, the Des Moines Register reported.

Relatives said the family got in touch after they arrived in Mexico but had not had any contact since March 15, the Register reported. Social media accounts were inactive as well.

When Mexican police investigated, they discovered the family’s bodies in the condo.

A Facebook post by family member Ashli Peterson said Mexican police found no foul play. “The Sharps have been located,” Peterson posted. “They were found last night in their condo deceased. There was no foul play! At this time that is all the information we have.”

Peterson also asked for privacy while the family grieves.

The post was an update to an earlier post asking for help in finding the Sharps.

It was not immediately clear when the family died and what caused their deaths.

An advisory was posted by the State Department earlier this month online warning “increased caution” by those traveling to Mexico because of increases in crime and homicide rates.

“While most of these homicides appeared to be targeted, criminal organization assassinations, turf battles between criminal groups have resulted in violent crime in areas frequented by U.S. citizens,” the advisory stated.
