Jason "Jace" Alexander, the veteran director of TV's popular "Law and Order" series, has been charged with two felony child pornography counts, including one in which it is alleged he promoted a video of a young girl stripping.
The New York Post reported that Alexander, who is not to be confused with "Seinfeld" actor Jason Alexander, faces a charge for promoting a video of a 12- or 13-year-old girl and also a separate charge for possessing a video file of a 6- to 8-year-old girl “performing a sex act on herself.”
Alexander allegedly posted the video of the older girl on the Torrent network, the Post said. He posted $10,000 bail and has his first court date Nov. 19 in Dobbs Ferry, New York.
Alexander, 51, has directed 32 episodes of "Law and Order," as well as numerous other television shows, including one recent episode of "The Blacklist," and movies. He is the son of actress Jane Alexander, who has played most recently on "The Good Wife."
He is married to actress Maddie Corman, and they have three children.
CBS New York said an investigator discovered child pornography that he connected to an IP address in Alexander’s home in Westchester County, New York.
The news story caused some confusion as to which Jason Alexander was being charged with child pornography and media outlets started to add into their stories that it was not the Alexander of "Seinfeld" fame who played George Constanza.
