Jada Pinkett Smith turned 42 last week, and the birthday apparently led her to some deep thinking about life. The actress opened up on Facebook, mentioning challenges with addiction.
“Yesterday I turned one year older, and I reflected on where I have been and where I am now,” the “Hawthorne” star
wrote on her Facebook account. “What I learned about myself is this, when I was younger I was not a good problem solver, meaning I had a very difficult time with dealing with my problems in life. I had many addictions, of several kinds, to deal with my life issues, but today, at 42, I have my wisdom, my heart and my conscience as the only tools to overcome life’s inevitable obstacles.”

Without giving details on the “addiction” issues, Smith openly talked about overcoming those challenges and where she is today.
“I have become a good problem solver with those tools, and I am damn proud,” she said. “What I hope is that we all continue to gain healthy understanding that life is really about solving problems, and also about us learning to become masters at solving them.”
The real and open attitude portrayed in those words, which gathered more than 65,000 likes, carried to another post about divorce, drawing readers to speculate on Smith’s marriage to superstar Will Smith, which has been plagued by divorce and “open marriage” rumors for years.
In that post, addressed to a dear friend who said she was getting divorced, Smith said, “Almost all the couples have said that at some point in their marriage they have stumbled upon inevitably difficult moments that called for a break. My hope for you is this, that you consider taking the route that some of our elders have taken in giving your marriage some space and time before the drastic decision of divorce.”
The elders Smith referred to probably have to do with the Church of Scientology,
which Smith has been linked to, The Huffington Post reported.
She and Will Smith have been married 16 years.
