Janet Jackson denied Wednesday that a throat cancer diagnosis was the reason she canceled some of her recent tour dates.

"The rumors are untrue. I do not have cancer. I'm recovering," Jackson, 49, wrote in a statement on Twitter.

"My doctors have approved my concerts as scheduled in Europe, and as I promised, the postponed shows will be rescheduled. Thank you for your prayers and love.

The statement was accompanied by a song and video clip that played a portion of her song, "The Great Forever."

The song lyrics include statements like, "Not too pleased with what you're diggin'/ I'm just busy livin' my life/ Sources say but where ya gettin' it/ Don't create the truth you like."

Before her statement, Jackson's representatives said, "It was Janet’s wish not to make any further comments about her health, however, because of the great concern from around the world, Janet will be releasing a personal message shortly."

According to The Associated Press, Jackson announced less than two weeks ago she would be postponing her "Unbreakable" tour to have an unspecified surgical procedure.

"I need you to know, I learned today, from my doctors that I must have surgery soon....Please pray for me, my family and our entire company during this difficult time," she wrote Dec. 24 on Facebook.

As the AP reported, "Jackson had been next scheduled to perform Saturday in Denver. She was scheduled to perform in Europe in March. Her 'Unbreakable' tour has been in the Top 20 global concert tour listing compiled by Pollstar."
