Dozens of Japanese commuters are being hailed as heroes for pushing a 32-ton train away from a woman who had become trapped after falling between the rail car and a platform.

The Guardian reports the group of commuters went into action after hearing a public address announcement that the woman had become trapped. About 40 people joined train officials to push the train car to lean to the side.

The woman, who was not identified, was pulled out uninjured as onlookers applauded at the station north of Tokyo. The train was delayed only eight minutes before it pulled out of the JR Minami-Urawa station, the Guardian said.

“Now this is team work!!” tweeted @aknecht, one of hundreds who posted comments on Twitter after news of the incident broke.

“Beautiful,” tweeted @CirocMami.

“Faith in humanity restored,” tweeted Gabriel Montclaire, who posts under @Room-_52.

The incident outside Tokyo is one in an unrelated series of recent events in which onlookers have rushed into action to save someone else. Stuntmen working on a superhero movie being filmed in San Diego on Thursday saved a woman who was about to jump from a 14th-floor balcony in a suicide attempt.

“We raced upstairs, crashed into the room and I sneaked up behind her,” Gregg Sargeant, owner and stunt coordinator for Los Angeles-based Stunts 911 – Action Sequence Technologies, told U-T San Diego.

“She was hanging by her two arms and I grabbed her. My two guys came in and roped her up. She was crying, upset, pretty out of it.”
