With more than 21.5 million song downloads and on-demand streams during his career, Jason Aldean has been recognized by the Recording Industry Association of America as the Top Male Country Artist in the history of their Digital Gold & Platinum Awards.

Rolling Stone reported Aldean’s most recent single, “Burnin’ It Down,” is the top-selling digital song in all genres. It sold more than 183,000 copies in its first week of release. His sixth album is due for release in the fall, and he currently is on his Burn It Down 2014 Tour.

“This is such a huge honor, and one that everyone on my team earned together,” Aldean said in a statement. "I love country music, and I wouldn't want to be doing anything else. There was never a Plan B."

According to Music Times, Aldean's honor may be overshadowed once Garth Brooks makes his entire catalog available digitally on his website.

Aldean’s success has weathered a cheating scandal with “American Idol” star Brittany Kerr, which ended Aldean’s 12-year marriage.

Aldean is a native of Macon, Georgia.
