Jenny McCarthy Vegan Diet Put on Hold for Carl's Jr. Chicken Ad (Video)

Though Jenny McCarthy has previously said she follows a mostly vegan diet, the actress is featured in a new ad for Carl's Jr. enjoying a cranberry apple walnut grilled chicken salad.

The new commercial, called "Forget You're Eating Salad," shows McCarthy seductively eating the dish. It's apparently so good that she abandons her fork and stuffs the salad in her mouth using her hands.

The only problem? Chicken is definitely not vegan.

"Jenny does practice a mostly-vegan diet, but isn't too strict about it. I guess the grilled chicken was too good for her to resist!" a rep from 72andSunny, the ad agency that created the commercial, told Business Insider.

McCarthy, who announced in 2009 that she was abstaining from all animal products, has become a kind of leader in the vegan community, but the ad is stirring up some criticism.

In the February 2013 issue of Shape magazine, McCarthy admitted that she indulges in the occasional milkshake, another no-no in a vegan diet.

"One food splurge I can't live without is my chocolate milkshake," McCarthy told Shape. "I love them so much! Don't buy me diamonds; get me a chocolate milkshake.
