Jimmy Kimmel will host a bevy of Hollywood stars offering tribute to Matthew McConaughey as he receives the American Cinematheque Award on Oct. 21.

"Matthew McConaughey is the epitome of what a Hollywood star should be — an adventurous, joyous and ever-growing talent combined with matinee-idol looks and an unshakable sense of who he is and what he stands for," Cinematheque chairman Rick Nicita in a statement when the award was announced in June.

McConaughey’s initial claim to fame was light-weight romantic comedy roles, but in recent years he has “reinvented himself as a serious dramatic actor,” The Los Angeles Times said.

The award is given every year to “an extraordinary filmmaker,” and previous recipients of the award include Nicole Kidman, Denzel Washington, and Martin Scorsese.

McConaughey has been reaping the benefits of his hard work with a lot of Hollywood notice for his roles in “Dallas Buyers Club,” “Killer Joe,” “The Wolf of Wall Street,” and HBO’s “True Detective.”

“We're currently talking bets on the number of 'Dazed and Confused' references Kimmel makes in the first 10 minutes. Our money is on eight,” Austin CultureMap said.

The celebrated actor is starring in “Interstellar” with Anne Hathaway. The movie is due out November 7.

McConaughey announced recently that he would not be involved with the sequel to his popular “Magic Mike” film, a disappointment for many of his fans.
