Tart-tongued comedian Joan Rivers slammed Lena Dunham this week, criticizing the "Girls" star's body and telling her, "It's OK, stay fat."
In an interview on Howard Stern's radio show this week, the 80-year-old Rivers kicked off a conversation about 27-year-old Dunham by asking, "How can she wear dresses above the knee?"

Dunham, the creator and star of the successful HBO dramedy, is known for her shameless display of nudity on the show despite the fact that she's not a typical size 0.
Stern, who has also criticized Dunham's weight in the past, defended her at first.
"I think the thing we love about her is she doesn't give a s—," he said to Rivers. "Do you watch 'Girls'? Do you watch when she's naked on there? She did a whole episode in a bikini; it was the funniest f—ing thing I've ever seen."
"But that’s wrong," Rivers responded. "You're sending a message out to people saying it's OK, stay fat, get diabetes, everybody die. Lose your fingers ... If you look that way you look, Lena, and that's fine and you're funny, don't say it's OK that other girls can look like this. Try to look better."
Dunham lashed out at her critics earlier this year at a Television Critics Association event in Pasadena, Calif., after a reporter asked her why her "character is often naked just at random times for no reason."
"It's because it's a realistic expression of what it's like to be alive, I think, and
I totally get it," the actress snapped, according to People magazine. "If you are not into me, that's your problem, and you're going to have to work that out with professionals."
