Joe Biden's homeless man encounter outside a theater in the capital last week has been melting hearts on the internet as rumors mount that the former vice president may be planning a run for president in 2020.
Biden, 75, the longtime Delaware U.S. Senator who served as vice president under Barack Obama, was photographed talking to a homeless man and giving him a piece of paper he had written on, the Huffington Post reported.
Caleb Baca, who took the photograph, told WTTG-TV that the picture was taken last Thursday outside the Georgetown AMC theater where Biden reportedly took his granddaughter, who was visiting him.
"I'm not exactly sure what he gave the homeless man, but he appeared to write something down on a piece of paper inside the movie theater, which he then proceeded to give the homeless man outside," Baca told the television station.
Paul Equale, a D.C. public affairs consultant and businessman, shared the photo on Facebook, where it was shared more than 129,000 times and liked more than 189,000 times.
"Joe Biden took his granddaughter to the movies in Georgetown last night … on his way out he stopped to speak (with) a homeless man," Equale wrote on Facebook. "A bystander took this candid shot. Character is about what you do when no one is watching."
Politico reported last week that Biden's aides have been discussing how he can make an impactful run against President Donald Trump in 2020. Biden kicked off the mid-term campaign season then by stomping for Democrat Conor Lamb, running for a U.S. House seat in a Pennsylvania special election on Tuesday.
Some on social media praised the former vice president.
