House Speaker John Boehner just can’t catch a break when it comes to Libya. Both liberals and conservatives are upset with him. Both sides want him to raise the roof over the Obama administration’s failure to request congressional approval of the U.S. military operation in Libya, which may violate the War Powers Act,
The Hill reports.
These critics say he should advance a bill to halt financing for the military mission in Libya. But some conservatives feel differently.
Randy Scheunemann, a former senior foreign policy adviser to Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.; Karl Rove; Liz Cheney; Paul Wolfowitz; and 34 others sent a letter to House Republicans urging them not to cut off funding.
“Speaker Boehner is in a very difficult position, not just because of his members, but because of the way the administration has handled this,” Scheunemann said.
