John Travolta apologized Tuesday to
Idina Menzel after butchering her name at Sunday's Academy awards, calling her Adele Dazeem.
Travolta famously mangled Menzel's name during Sunday night's 86th Annual Academy Awards telecast, when he was introducing her performance of "Let It Go," from the Oscar-winning animated movie "Frozen." He's been mocked on social media ever since.

"I've been beating myself up all day," Travolta said in an emailed statement to The Los Angeles Times. "Then I thought ... what would Idina Menzel say? She'd say, 'Let it go, let it go!' Idina is incredibly talented and I am so happy Frozen took home two Oscars Sunday night!"
He didn't say what caused him to mispronounce her name.
Menzel, 42, came to fame as Maureen Johnson in "Rent" both on Broadway and in the movie adaptation, and originated the role of Elphaba in "Wicked" on Broadway and won a Tony Award in 2004.
Now starring in the Broadway show "If/Then," she had some fun with her unintentional notoriety in the official playbill.
According to Hitfix.com, an insert reads, "At this performance, the role of Elizabeth will be played by Adele Dazeem," and goes on to misidentify the names of shows in her bio.

Some celebrities were sympathetic toward Travolta, sort of.
Even the cast of "Frozen" got in on the act with a short video splicing together clips as a reaction to the flub.
