Johnny Manziel hit his girlfriend "a couple of times" while the two were in a vehicle together during an argument, the woman told police. The Cleveland Browns quarterback wasn't charged, but his team and the NFL were looking into the altercation.

Colleen Crowley told Avon police that she didn't want to file charges after authorities intervened on Oct. 12 on Interstate 90, just outside Cleveland, where Manziel's vehicle was stopped on side of the freeway, said TMZ

Sgt. George Ruple said Manziel wasn't drunk at the scene but did admit to having two drinks earlier, said Cleveland.com. Crowley, described as a student at Texas Christian University, was "significantly impaired" at the scene, according to Ruple.

Authorities determined that Manziel had not physically harmed Crowley and wasn't charged with domestic violence even though she told officers that the Browns backup quarterback struck her and "pushed her head against the glass" of the vehicle.

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told The Associated Press that Manziel's incident is being reviewed by the league.

"It is standard procedure to look into any incident that is a potential violation of our personal conduct policy," said McCarthy.

Manziel is scheduled to play on Sunday, said Browns coach Mike Pettine, but the team wasn't giving him a pass on the incident.

"We've dealt with it, it's not like we ignored it," said Pettine. "Until we had all the information from the police and when the league concludes their report we'll have a more total picture of what happened. But given the details that we had, we made our decision based on the details we had in hand."

Manziel, one of the Browns top draft picks in 2014, spent 10 weeks in an addiction treatment center in the offseason after a subpar rookie season.

Later, Crowley said on Instagram that she and Manziel had made up.

"J & I are good," said Crowley. "I appreciate the people who stopped to check on us and call the police, I could see how it may have looked. Anytime anyone sees a guy and a girl arguing on the side of a road they should definitely stop, you never know what that could be. Fortunately it was just an argument, it was private, and we are all good!"

Manziel responded on social media, calling the argument the couple had "dumb" and "embarrassing."
