Former reality TV dad Jon Gosselin is now waiting tables at a Beckersville, Pa., restaurant to make ends meet.

Gosselin, the ex-husband of Kate Gosselin and co-star of TLC's "Jon & Kate Plus Eight," works at the Black Dog Restaurant.

"At first I was nervous because I was like, 'How are people going to react?'" Gosselin told "ET." "But then I'm thinking, 'Well, it's fun and I get to talk to people.' And they technically already know me. ... They're like, 'Are you the guy?' I'm like, 'Yeah, I'm the guy.'"

Gosselin said he now lives in a cabin in the woods, without television or the Internet — a departure from the $1.3 million home he lived in with his family at the height of the show's popularity. He emphasized that he chose the simpler lifestyle and has no regrets.

"You learn from your mistakes," he said. "That's what builds you to who you are today."

The Gosselins went through a messy public divorce in 2009, which was reportedly brought on by Jon Gosselin's infidelity. The series was renamed "Kate Plus 8" after Jon left but wasn’t on the air for much longer.

Since the show ended, Gosselin told "Entertainment Tonight" that it has been "nearly impossible to find work."

Last month, Gosselin was sued by his ex-wife, who accused him of illegally hacking her email, phone, and bank accounts, and stealing a hard drive from her home. Kate Gosselin said her ex-husband then gave the stolen information to his friend, Robert Hoffman, for his tell-all book, "Kate Gosselin: How She Fooled the World."

Kate Gosselin told People magazine last month that the reality show experience has left her humbled. She is trying to find a ways to support her children: twins Mady and Cara, 12, and sextuplets Alexis, Collin, Hannah, Joel, Leah, and Aaden, 9.

Jon Gosselin is trying to get by as well.

"I've hit rock bottom like 20 times and then I just bounce back and go somewhere else," he told "ET."
