Mike Bloomberg has an influential judge backing his presidential run — Judy Sheindlin, best known as "Judge Judy." The famous jurist ruled in favor of Bloomberg in an advertisement released Monday that supported his campaign.
"I like to say you can judge someone's character by what they've done. Mike Bloomberg has done amazing things and will be a truly great president," Sheindlin says in the 30-second clip.
"No one comes close to Mike Bloomberg's executive achievement, government experience, and impactful philanthropy," the 77-year-old continues. "His steady leadership will unite our country and bring us through these very challenging times."
Before launching her highly successful television career, Sheindlin served as a supervising judge of Manhattan Family Court, according to CBS News. She then debuted her acclaimed show "Judge Judy" in 1996, which shot her into the spotlight.
Bloomberg decided to cash in on her fame. Sheindlin draws an audience of predominantly working-class women of all races, which Joe Ferullo of The Hill noted are the voters the Democrat Party needs.
Sheindlin has been vocal of her support for Bloomberg for months, singing his praises back in October in an opinion piece published by USA Today.
"I have carefully stayed away from politics for 50 years, except to vote. But times have changed in our country, and I believe the moment has come for me to step out from behind the curtain," she wrote.
"An independent, tough-minded businessman, [Bloomberg] represents our best chance to bring America together again and begin the long national process of healing."
Sheindlin added that America was in need of "a no-nonsense president who's sane, competent, and honest, someone who can't be bought and has no skin in the game."
Bloomberg, she said, showed this during his 12-year run as mayor of New York City. He "fits the bill," she said.
