U.S. hockey star and four-time Olympian Julie Chu has been given the honor of carrying United States flag at the Sochi closing ceremonies.
This will be the last Olympics for Chu, 31, who has three silver medals and one bronze. She earned her final silver this year in what
Bleacher Report called “arguably the most heartbreaking loss in recent Olympic history,” when the Canadian hockey team came back from 2-0 to snag the gold medal from the U.S. in overtime play.

Chu’s legacy in the game is much celebrated both in the U.S. and abroad. Even as her offensive game has weakened, Bleacher Report said, she was an important asset to the hockey team.
"She just brings experience,"
Chu’s U.S. coach Katey Stone told ESPN. "She's in the right place at the right time, ready to make plays. She overcommunicates with her teammates. She helps them stay calmer on so many levels. She's a caring soul. We wouldn't be here without her."
As the announcement that Chu would have the honor of carrying the U.S. flag made the rounds, many athletes and coaches tweeted their congrats to the hockey star.
And Brian Sullivan at CNBC tweeted this picture of Chu right after she learned she would carry the flag.
