Justin Bieber ran over a photographer outside a church service in Beverly Hills on Wednesday night, according to paparazzi and a posse of wanna-be celebrity sighters, but police believed it was accidental and released the singer without a citation.

The accident happened just before 9:30 p.m. outside a Hillsong church service at a Beverly Hills studio, sometimes attended by celebrities, and a crowd had gathered perhaps expecting to see Bieber and Kourtney Kardashian, the Los Angeles Times said.

TMZ said Bieber was leaving the service at the Saban Theater when he climbed into a black pickup truck that was surrounded by photographers, and when he tried to drive away one of the photographers was reportedly struck.

The truck was registered to Bieber, KCBS-TV said.

"Justin did not flee the scene and, in fact, stopped as soon as other photogs pointed out what had happened," TMZ reported. "Bieber stayed right by the man's side for roughly eight to 10 minutes until paramedics and police arrived.”

"Justin spoke to police before he was allowed to leave the scene -- police tell TMZ he was not cited -- getting a ride from one friend, while another drove his truck."

KTLA-TV also said Bieber left the scene in another vehicle, which KCBS-TV said was the leased Aston Martin of Kourtney Kardashian.

Life & Style magazine reported in February that Bieber and Kardashian had been spotted on a "church date" but didn't mention the name of the church or the location. The two were also spotted together at the Peppermint Club in West Hollywood in January.

Beverly Hills Police Sgt. Matthew Stout told the Times that the photographer -- so far unidentified -- was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

TMZ said the photographer posted a video describing the accident, and thanked Bieber for being "compassionate."

Earlier this week, Bieber announced that he was pulling the plug on the last 14 dates of his "Purpose" World Tour, E! News said.

"Due to unforeseen circumstances, Justin Bieber will cancel the remainder of the Purpose World Tour concerts," said his Facebook page on Monday. "Justin loves his fans and hates to disappoint them. He thanks his fans for the incredible experience of the Purpose World Tour over last 18 months.”

A source told E! News that Bieber was "burnt out" from touring and rejected some rumors that his connection with the Hillsong Church played a role in him ending the tour dates.
