Actor Justin Martin, who co-starred in "High School Musical 3: Senior Year," was arrested in Boston on Tuesday after he was involved in a shootout with police.

Martin, 21, was released on $35,000 bail after a court appearance Wednesday morning, according to TMZ. Police have arrested a second suspect in connection with the incident.

A Boston police statement said officers were on patrol in the Dorchester neighborhood when they heard gunfire and then saw a male, who they claimed was Martin, with a gun in his hand running. Officers pursued when they claim he stopped and pointed the weapon at them.

"… As this was happening, a second suspect began to fire multiple times at the officers," said the statement. "Officers fired at the original suspect but did not strike him. Officers were then able to take the suspect to the ground and place him in custody at which time they recovered a loaded .22 caliber handgun."

Police said they arrested a juvenile who approached them holding a .25 caliber handgun but had not determined if he was the same person who fired shots at them.

Authorities said Martin and the juvenile were charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and carrying a loaded firearm in Dorchester District Court. Martin was also charged with two counts of assault by means of a dangerous weapon.

The Georgia native played the role of Donny Dion in 2008's "High School Musical 3," which starred Zac Efron. He also had small roles in the movie "The Express" in 2008, "The Soloist" in 2009 and "Flight" in 2012, according to IMDB.com

He also appeared in television shows "Blue Bloods," "Reed Between the Lines," "Cold Case," "Judging Amy," "The Bernie Mac Show" and "Malcolm in the Middle."

Martin appeared in the movie "Sons 2 the Grave" that is currently in post-production while another movie "Chapter & Verse," was completed in 2014.
