Aspiring screenwriters could break into the film industry if their submissions to the 12th Annual Kairos Prizes for Spiritually Uplifting Screenplays crack the nod from judges.

Movieguide announced Wednesday that submissions to the competition were open.

First-time screenwriters stand a chance of winning $15,000 in cash while established screenwriters have the option of submitting their work into the "Kairos Pro category," which also features a $15,000 cash prize.

Further sweetening the deal, Movieguide announce that winners stood a chance of having their screenplays purchased by top studio executives and production houses.

Previous Kairos finalist, Steve Armour's script was snapped up by Sony Pictures and made into the feature film, "All Saints," which was released nationwide last Friday and topped $1.5 million at the box office in its opening weekend.

According to the film's official website, "All Saints" is a true story about a salesman-turned-pastor who is ordered to shut down his tiny church but defies orders when he and his congregation extend a helping hand to a group of refugees from Southeast Asia.

Screenwriters hoping to follow in Armour's footsteps and see their screenplays transformed into a feature film have until Sept. 15, the Kairos "early bird" deadline. According to Movieguide, entrants will be required to pay an additional $25 for late submissions.

The final deadline is Oct. 31, and winners will be announced at the 26th annual Movieguide Faith and Values Awards Friday taking place on Feb. 2, 2018, in Los Angeles.

The Kairos Prize was established in 2005 with the aim of promoting a spiritually uplifting worldview.

Organizers noted that "the prize was founded to inspire first-time and beginning screenwriters to produce compelling, entertaining, spiritually uplifting scripts that result in a greater increase in either man's love or understanding of God."
