Rapper Kanye West was invited to speak at a Clark County, Nevada, GOP event, the Las Vegas Sun reported Thursday.

The invitation was made by the Clark County Republican Chairman Carl Bunce Wednesday on Twitter, in response to the rapper's recent admission that he's a supporter of President Donald Trump. Bunce asked West to be a featured speaker Saturday at the party's convention in Las Vegas.

West sparked controversy among liberals when he admitted he supported the president, and the rapper released a song defending his stance, CNN reported.

On Tuesday, West sparked controversy even further when he suggested that slavery was "a choice" during an interview with TMZ.

Bunce, the GOP chairman, said the rapper is "entitled to his thoughts," the Las Vegas Sun reported.

"He's encouraging people to think for themselves," Bunce said. "He's definitely hit a chord with some conservative, right-leaning activists."

West recently tweeted a hint at a 2024 presidential run. Whether serious or not, it suggests that he's keeping 2020 reserved for Trump.
