Kanye West dropped by to visit Harvard Graduate School of Design students, handing out free concert tickets and his opinion on the importance of design.
In a video of the event, posted by one of the architecture students there, West said, “I really do believe that the world can be saved through design and everything needs to actually be architected.”

Talking to the gathered students from his perch atop a desk, West shared his views about creativity and design.
“If I sit down and talk to Oprah for 2 hours, the conversation is about realization, self realization, and actually seeing your creativity happen in front of you. So the reason why I turn up so much in interviews is because I've tasted what it means to create and be able to impact, and affect in a positive way.”
Never one to restrain his views, West wasn’t shy about letting loose with his thoughts.
“I believe that utopia is actually possible — but we're led by the least noble, the least dignified, the least tasteful, the dumbest, and the most political,” he said. “So in no way am I a politician — I'm usually at my best politically incorrect and very direct. I really appreciate you guys' willingness to learn and hone your craft, and not be lazy about creation.”

transcript of West’s short talk showed up on archinect.com, in a blog written by Lian Dekako Chang, the same person who posted the video to YouTube.
Readers of that blog were mixed about West’s words.
“That's actually lovely. I'm not a fan but his words are wonderful,” one woman wrote.
Another wrote: “ I appreciate Kanye because he doesn't just sit back, he is actually trying to engage and become a designer/curator himself — even with the pushback.”
