Hip-hop artist Kanye West has declared himself the next Steve Jobs and the Michael Jordan of music all in one interview with The New York Times Tuesday.
In a rare Q&A with the Times' Jon Caramanica to promote his new album "Yeezus," West spoke at length about the legacy he hopes to leave, but his comments were not without his signature cockiness.
"I think what
Kanye West is going to mean is something similar to what Steve Jobs means," he said when asked about being a trendsetter. "I am undoubtedly, you know, Steve of Internet, downtown, fashion, culture. Period. By a long jump. I honestly feel that because Steve has passed, you know, it’s like when Biggie passed and Jay-Z was allowed to become Jay-Z.

"…When you get something that has the name Kanye West on it, it’s supposed to be pushing the furthest possibilities. I will be the leader of a company that ends up being worth billions of dollars, because I got the answers. I understand culture. I am the nucleus."
The rapper also compared himself to NBA legend Michael Jordan when discussing how his place in the spotlight allows him to make judgments about right and wrong.
"You know, if Michael Jordan can scream at the refs, me as Kanye West, as the Michael Jordan of music, can go and say, 'This is wrong,'" he said.
Twitter users were not amused by West's arrogance.
