Kathy Griffin appeared in the first teaser promotion for the E! Network's "Fashion Police" without Joan Rivers, featuring her three co-hosts ahead of its Jan. 12 premiere.
Griffin appears in the promo with Kelly Osbourne, Giuliana Rancic and newbie Brad Goreski. Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars' "Uptown Funk" plays in the background.
"Anything you wear, can and will be held against you," Griffin said in the promo.
Griffin was named earlier this month to replace the late Rivers, who died Sept. 4. The edgy comedienne and friend of Joan Rivers was one of the first names to pop up as her replacement on the fashion show, which will appear right after the Golden Globe awards,
noted The Hollywood Reporter.
"I get it! These are some big shoes I'm going to fill," Griffin said. "Joan was truly one of a kind. Now I hope you will accept me for me. I'm just Kathy. Did I say I'm just Kathy?"
"I meant I'm Kathy F—ing Griffin and you celebrities better strap yourself in, as I am taking no prisoners. I am not holding back so dammit let's have some fun," said Griffin.
Jeff Olde, E! Network executive vice president of programming and development, told THR that Griffin's style should complement what Rivers brought to the show.
"Not only was Joan a trailblazer, she was also a dear friend and mentor to Kathy, who will no doubt continue her legacy and do the series justice by bringing her own unique comedic style and tell-it-like-it-is personality to the host chair," said Olde.
Rivers' daughter Melissa is the executive producer of "Fashion Police" and Griffin told
People magazine that she had sought the younger Rivers' approval before seeking the spot.
"Melissa gave me the blessing, which was a deal-breaker for me – or the deal-maker," said Griffin. "That was what made me go, 'If Melissa says it's okay, then it's okay.'"
Goreski, who replaces George Kotsiopoulos, said he was excited about the show's debut.
