Katie Holmes is speaking out about the decision to close her fashion label and end her partnership with designer Jeanne Yang, saying that she needed to focus on her acting career and being a mother.
“I loved every minute of my time working on Holmes & Yang. I remain passionate about the design aesthetic we created and am so happy with what Jeanne and I accomplished,”
Holmes told Elle UK. “However I am now concentrating on acting and motherhood, which did not leave the label the time and attention it deserved. I'm really thrilled that the final showcase for Holmes & Yang is in ELLE — I had a blast at my shoot for the magazine. It is fantastic to feel like it's ending on a high."

Holmes is on Elle’s April cover.
A source
told the New York Post’s Page Six that the partnership was dissolving because of an “interpersonal disagreement.”
“Jeanne enjoys the spotlight way more than Katie does,” the source told Page Six. “Things have definitely soured between them.”
But a representative for their Holmes & Yang fashion line referred to the two as friends.
“We would like to express our thanks and appreciation to everyone who contributed to helping the line including our customers, contractors, vendors and the press for their support over these past five years,”
the rep told Elle. “Katie and Jeanne remain close friends and continue to pursue their respective careers.”
As recently as January, the
Holmes & Yang label posted pictures on Facebook of stars wearing their creations.
Holmes will be busy even without a fashion line. Holmes is scheduled for a return to television (she was there 10 years ago with “Dawson’s Creek”) in a “high society drama.” She’ll also be out this summer in the movie “The Giver.”
