Katy Perry was dumped by her
former husband Russell Brand via a text message, the singer claims.
In a recent interview with Vogue magazine, Perry, who says she was
in love with the English comedian/actor before he split from her at the end of 2011, recounted Brand's seemingly shallow departure.
"He's a very smart man, a magical man and I was in love with him when I married him," Perry told Vogue.

"[He's] hysterical in some ways," she added. "Until he started making jokes about me and he didn’t know I was in the audience, because I had come to surprise him at one of his shows. So. Hysterical to a point."
When asked if she kept in touch with him Perry said, "Let's just say I haven't heard from him since he texted me saying he was divorcing me December 31, 2011."
Perry did not disclose what exactly led to the split, which in part she blamed on her busy tour schedule, adding that there was a deeper, underlying reason for the divorce which she refused to provide details about at this time.
"I felt a lot of responsibility for it ending, but then I found out the real truth, which I can’t necessarily disclose because I keep it locked in my safe for a rainy day," Perry said.
In the interview, Perry also discussed her on-again, off-again relationship with singer John Mayer and disputed the claim that she began dating him after the divorce just to get back at Brand.
"No, I was madly in love with him. I still am madly in love with him," Perry said referring to Mayer. "All I can say about that relationship is that he’s got a beautiful mind. Beautiful mind, tortured soul. I do have to figure out why I am attracted to these broken birds."

Currently single, having split with Mayer in March, Perry says she is coming to terms with not being in a relationship.
"I have to be happy being alone, and I am happy," she said. "I believe that I will be loved again, in the right way. I know I’m worth it."
