Oscar-winning actor Kevin Costner is selling 1,000 acres of real estate, which include the long-proposed Dunbar casino resort area, near Deadwood, S.D., for $14 million.
The Dunbar casino resort, which never materialized, was supposed to be a $100 million project that would have included a
golf course and a steam-powered passenger train, according to The Associated Press.
Costner's character in his movie "Dances with Wolves" was named Lt. John Dunbar.

The Associated Press said Costner and his brother Dan proposed the construction of the 320-room resort in 1993. The brothers put several million dollars into the project before stopping construction when they could not find enough investors, the AP reported.
Costner filmed much of "Dancing with Wolves" in South Dakota, which was released in 1990. "Dances with Wolves" won seven Academy Awards in 1991, including two for Costner for best director and best picture.
The Associated Press said the listing does not include Costner's Midnight Star casino and restaurant, the tallest building on Deadwood's Main Street, or the $6 million visitor attraction he owns on the town's north edge called Tatanka: Story of the Bison.
"He has a strong sense of loyalty to the area and it was a hard decision for him," South Dakota real estate agent Mike Percevich told The Associated Press. "The ground has been prepared for a resort, which was to be called the Dunbar. Everything's done up there. They were just getting ready to start setting the foundation and it stopped. It's a shame for them, but a definite benefit for the next guy."
Costner currently has supporting role as Superman's Earth-bound father Jonathan Kent in the current summer blockbuster "Man of Steel," starting Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, and Michael Shannon.
Deadwood, an Old West gambling town, has its own history on the small screen. The town was the backdrop of the HBO series "Deadwood" which ran from 2004-06. The television show won eight Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe
during its run of three seasons on HBO, according to IMBd.com.
