Kevin Spacey will be returning to film following allegations of sexual assault.
The actor will make a brief appearance in an independent Italian film directed by Franco Nero, Variety reported. It will mark his first film role since the accusations involving sexual misconduct, which Spacey has denied, emerged in 2017.
"I’m very happy Kevin agreed to participate in my film," Nero said to ABC News of Spacey's cameo as a detective in the upcoming movie, "L'uomo Che Disegno Dio" [The Man Who Draws God]. "I consider him a great actor and I can’t wait to start the movie."
Spacey lost several jobs, including his role in Netflix's "House of Cards," after the allegations of sexual misconduct first surfaced against him. He was also edited out of the film "All The Money in the World," which was reshot with actor Christopher Plummer in Spacey's role, BBC noted.
Actor Anthony Rapp was among the first to come forth with allegations of sexual assault in 2017. In court documents obtained by Fox News last year, Rapp recounted how Spacey reportedly "intentionally and voluntarily and without plaintiff’s consent engaged in an unwanted sexual advance" at a party when he was 14 years old. Rapp alleged Spacey grabbed his buttocks then lifted him onto the bed and lay down on top of him.
"As a result of the foregoing conduct, plaintiff was forced to extricate himself and, fearing for his safety, ran into the bathroom of defendant's apartment," the filing stated.
Spacey then allegedly attempted to persuade Rapp to stay at his apartment, but the actor left shortly after.
In an interview with Buzzfeed, Rapp explained that Spacey "picked me up like a groom picks up the bride over the threshold" of his apartment. "But I don't, like, squirm away initially, because I'm like, 'What's going on?' And then he lays down on top of me."
Spacey later posted on Twitter that he did not remember the encounter but apologized to Rapp.
"I honestly do not remember the encounter; it would have been over 30 years ago," he tweeted. "But if I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior, and I am sorry for the feelings he describes having carried with him all these years."
A second man, identified as C.D. in the court documents, told a similar story. He claimed the two met at an acting class. Two years later, Spacey reportedly invited him to his apartment where he "engaged in sexual acts with the plaintiff."
These sexual encounters took place on various occasions. During their final encounter, Spacey reportedly "attempted to anally sodomize the plaintiff, C.D." and continued his pursuits until the plaintiff "was able to free himself … and fled the defendant’s apartment."
At least 15 other men have also voiced similar complaints against Spacey, although none of these allegations have led to any criminal prosecutions.
