Khan Bonfils, who has appeared in Hollywood blockbusters such as "Skyfall," and "Batman Begins" and in a "Star Wars" prequel, died Monday on stage in London while rehearsing for "Dante's Inferno."
The cause of 42-year-old Bonfils's death has not been determined,
according to The Telegraph. Members of the Craft Theatre company and paramedics tried to revive Bonfils when he collapsed but couldn't resuscitate him.
"Dante Inferno" was scheduled to open at The Rag Factory in east London this week.
Craft Theatre posted news of Bonfils' death on Facebook.
"The entire company (is) in shock," company spokesman Chris Hislop told the
Daily Mail. "There is absolutely severe sadness, it is a real tragedy. I think they are holding it together by talking it through and by being there for each other."
On Wednesday, the Craft posted a note on
Facebook announcing that "Dante's Inferno" would go on, opening on Saturday.
"In honour of Kan Bonfils, CRAFT Theatre will continue with plans to stage their production of Dante’s Inferno, which Mr Bonfils was due to perform in and would have opened on January 8th 2015," said the Craft post. "Actor Ryan Prescott, a close friend, will be stepping in to represent Mr Bonfils's work, alongside other company members yet to be confirmed."
"We've been through a trauma, it's all very difficult to stomach," the play's director Rocky Rodriguez said. "The only thing we know how to do is continue to do what we do. We need to finish the journey that Kan was on."
According to The Telegraph, Bonfils played Jedi master Saesee Tiin in 1999's "Star Wars: Episode 1 The Phantom Menace," with Liam Neeson and Ewan McGregor. He also acted in "Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle Of Life," "Batman Begins" and the Daniel Craig James Bond adventure "Skyfall."
