KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is under fire after tweeting a so-called "racist" message after the Netherlands' 2-1 World Cup win over Mexico on Sunday.
The airline took to its official Twitter account after the game Sunday, posting "Adios Amigos!" along with a picture of a "Departure" sign and a caricature of a Mexican man in a sombrero.

The tweet immediately ruffled feathers among people online, including Mexican actor Gael Garcia Bernal, who wrote, "@KLM I'm never flying your sh—y airline again. F— you big time."
KLM later deleted the tweet.
"It was meant to be a joke," airline spokeswoman Lisette Ebeling Koning said in a statement. "But there was too much negative reaction."
Delta found itself in a similar situation earlier this month when it
tweeted out a photo of a giraffe to reference the United States' World Cup victory over Ghana.
"The original tweet was made in the spirit of the World Cup," a Delta spokeswoman said in a statement at the time. "We apologized for the photo, but at this point it's been replaced and that's where we're at."
