The Los Angeles Police Department added a Lamborghini Gallardo to its squad this week, but officials said don't expect to see one of the world's fastest vehicles involved in any high speed chases down the Santa Monica Freeway. It's all for show.
Nathalie and Travis Marg of Light Source 1 Inc. donated the use of their Lamborghini for charitable events and recruitment for the police department's air support team,
LAPD officials told KNBC-TV.

The Lamborghini Gallardo, painted in the traditional black and white with the LAPD's "To Protect and Service" motto written on it, already has its own
Twitter and
Instagram accounts as well as its own
website.
Under the hashtag #LAPDLambo, the department invited the public out to see the vehicle at the Los Angeles County Air Show this weekend.

KNBC-TV reported that a 2014 Lamborghini Gallardo starts at about $182,000. While the Los Angeles police won't chase anyone in it,
according to the Gallardo's website, it can reach speeds up to 199 miles per hour and can go from 0 to 100 in 3.9 seconds.
"Looking rather evil with its police livery, the Gallardo serves as a rather excellent piece of charity show eye candy,"
wrote Jeff Glucker, of MotorAuthority.com. "No, it won't be prowling the streets looking to put a quick end to high speed pursuits. Instead, the vehicle will be used to put smiles on a few faces, and not much more. It's a donation, so folks getting angry over a perceived big ticket item on the local budget should guess again."
Travis Marg, is president of Light Source 1, a Los Angeles-based fiber optic solutions company for businesses such as: MCI Worldcom, Level 3, and One Wilshire.
