Larry David, the comedian co-creator of "Seinfeld," jokingly welcomed professional golfing champion Jordan Spieth to the "bald club" in an interview with Golf Digest this week.
During Golf Digest's question and answer session with David, who also starred in the hit HBO series "Curb Your Enthusiasm," he was asked about Spieth, the champion of this year's Masters and U.S. Open.
"He's going to be a bald man," David said in response. "He's going to be wildly bald. This makes him way more appealing to me. It's one thing to handle the pressure of the back nine at Augusta; let's see how he does when he sees all that hair in the tub. That's pressure. I'll be watching him very carefully. He's 22. He's got three years, maybe four. He's done."
ESPN's Jason Sobel posted Spieth's response to David on Twitter, in which he's apparently resigned to his fate.
Spieth has been criticized for missing the cut in the past two golf tournaments, which the golfer said he was surprised by.
"I'm not aware of the specifics on what Joe sitting on his couch in Montana thinks about my golf game," Spieth said Tuesday at Conway Farms as he prepared for the
BMW Championship, according to USA Today. "But I am aware that people thought [about the missed cuts] . . . It just seems like it's interesting how it's a what-can-you-do-for-me now kind of [mentality] when the spotlight is on."
Spieth said, though, that he feels like his game is back on track after a week off.
"Everything is on point," he said. "My game is in a solid state right now. It's in a state where I can certainly shoot into double digits under par, and I believe that. It's just a matter of getting it rolling, get into a groove and starting to see some putts go in and get an under-par round started so that I can settle in a little easier."
