Leah Remini Cut by 'Dancing With the Stars;' Finals To Begin (Video)

Leah Remini failed to secure a spot in the finals Monday on "Dancing With the Stars" even though she outscored comedian Bill Engvall, who managed to survive yet another elimination round.

Remini, who starred on all nine seasons of the CBS sitcom "King of Queens," and her pro partner Tony Dovolani were in second-to-last place after dancing two routines on Monday night's episode of the competitive reality show.

In the first-ever "Plugged/Unplugged" challenge, the remaining five contestants were tasked with performing two dances to the same song — one of which was "unplugged," or stripped-down.

Remini's paso doble set to Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" was middle-of-the-road and drew four straight 8's from the judging panel, which featured guest judge Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

The second performance, a tango, was slightly better, eliciting a score of 33.

Still, Remini didn’t have enough fan backing to make it through to the finals next week and she was ultimately eliminated.

"I take away so much," she told co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet after the results were announced. "I have to thank Tony. He's put in so much work. And the crew. This has been an amazing experience and I want to thank everybody here, Tony especially, my family for supporting me, my fans and to everybody here. Everybody's been amazing."

Remini made headlines when she joined the cast of "DWTS" shortly after announcing her split with the Church of Scientology over the summer. She has said in past interviews that fear kept her from participating on the show before.

"I really was living in a place of fear, I do things that I'm comfortable with… but if you're never stretching yourself, you're never really growing," Remini told E! Online last week. "And I always said no to the show, and then I was like — you know with what I had done — I was like, I need to start doing things that I'm scared of, and this is the time to do it."

Engvall slipped through to the finals despite coming in last place the past few weeks. He joins frontrunners Amber Riley of "Glee" and "High School Musical" star Corbin Bleu, and potential most-improved contender Jack Osbourne.

"Dancing With the Stars" airs Mondays at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
