Leah Remini believes Tom Cruise is planning to "lure" his 14-year-old daughter into the Church of Scientology when she gets older. Cruise’s ex-wife, Katie Holmes, left the church and divorced him in 2012 and has full custody over Suri Cruise. Holmes is keeping her away from Scientology, but her father is reportedly hoping to have her indoctrinated when she is older, Remini believes.
"Scientology considers Katie a suppressive person which is an enemy and therefore Tom believes, like all Scientologists, that he can't be connected to Suri," Remini told the New York Post in a report published Wednesday. "I'm sure his master plan is to wait until Suri gets older so that he can lure her into Scientology and away from her mother."
The "King of Queens" star — who left Scientology — praised Holmes for "getting her daughter out of something that would have been potentially very toxic and dangerous for not only Suri but for their relationship" and said she was "really proud" of the "Dawson's Creek" star.
"I knew Katie when she was in [Scientology] and she seemed very indoctrinated into Tom’s world," she said, "but as time went on, and I understood why she did what she did to protect her daughter."
Last month, in an interview with Daily Beast, Remini blasted Cruise for failing to live up to his "good guy" image amid accusations that he had intimidated his co-stars.
"Tom has gotten away with being this 'nice guy,'" Remini said, "because that’s what Scientology policy says — to create good PR in the world and make those ‘good actions’ known. But if you actually look at his actions, they’re not consistent."
She added that Cruise was considered a "messiah" in Scientology.
"That this guy can be running around and having people think he’s this super nice guy, I don’t get it. But that’s the Hollywood bulls--- game people play."
