Basketball star LeBron James has been slammed for comparing the Orlando bubble in Disney World, where pro basketball games will be held during the coronavirus pandemic, to serving time in prison.
The pro athlete shared his distaste for the makeshift venue on Thursday in a tweet that has drawn the wrath of fans.
"Just left the crib to head to the bubble. S*** felt like I’m headed to do a bid man! Fr. Hated to leave the #JamesGang," James wrote.
James, of course, is being paid millions of dollars to play in what he calls prison. He also has the option not to play.
Followers were quick to point out that NBA players were being accommodated in luxurious hotels and earning wads of cash in the process. You are staying for a few months in probably the presidential suite of a Disney hotel. Don't compare it to prison," a Twitter user replied while another shared a video of a gourmet meal and wrote: "Bron when he gets into his room."
Another Twitter user added: "Lebron James has clearly never been to a jail in America if he feels Disney World with 5 star services is like 'leaving to go do a bid.'"
Disney World has created a 220-acre ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex which offers teams a practice court as well as several game-quality courts where they will play at, USA Today reported. From July 30, the 22 teams will play eight seeding games each during which the final standings will be determined in order to see who makes the playoffs.
Based on the current standings in each conference, teams will be assigned to three deluxe hotels.
