The Lucid Air, an electric car unveiled by the Silicon Valley-based startup automaker Lucid Motors, will compete with Tesla.

The four-door electric sedan features a “futuristic design, with an interior modeled after luxury jets, complete with rear seats that recline 55 degrees,” according to Fox News.

The car can reach 60 mph in 2.5 seconds, according to Lucid.

The Air, powered by a Samsung-sourced battery pack, gets 400 miles per charge, and “can withstand regular fast-charging without any degradation,” unlike other electronic cars, Fox News said.

The vehicle’s headlight system is called “Lucid Vision,” consisting of more than 4,800 lenses and special LED lighting, according to Green Car Reports.

The front end of the car includes the “Lucid Vortex,” a cooling system that provides sufficient air flow and low aerodynamic drag.

Consumers will be able to invest in an Air that has a four-seat configuration or five seats, and there are three screens surrounding the steering wheel, with a fourth located on the center stack, Green Car Reports said.

According to the company, the Air will also allow autonomous driving, all thanks to its sensors, which include front-facing cameras, surround-view cameras, and a camera that monitors the driver.

Revealing the Air puts Lucid in heavy competition with Tesla, which made some strides when they released the Model S P100D. However, the Air is said to have significantly more horsepower than the Model S.

Lucid chief technology officer Peter Rawlinson referred to the Air as “a private jet on four wheels” when talking to reporters, the USA Today noted.

Lucid is currently taking deposits from potential customers interested in purchasing the Air, which is expected to cost as much as $160,000.

The Air is expected to be available to buyers by 2018.
