Actress Lynda Carter won't appear in the upcoming Warner Brother's "Wonder Woman" movie but, though that news may disappoint some fans, the first teaser released this week went viral as it hyped the movie.
Carter, who is considered by many fans to be the iconic Wonder Woman, won't be in the movie even as an extra,
the actress' publicist told The Washington Post.
That's despite online petitions that circulated from fans wanting Carter to at least have a small role in the film.
But interest in the "Woman Woman" movie is high, as evidenced by the popularity of a clip featuring Gal Gadot, who will take on the role for a new generation of WW fans, and Chris Pine, who will play Steve Trevor.
The actors' commentary was interspersed with clips from the movie and fans took their anticipation online:
"This is so exciting!!! Gal Gadot The God of War!!! She rocks as Wonder Woman!! Give us the trailer already!!"
one person commented on the YouTube video.
On Thursday, Warner Brothers put out the release dates for "Wonder Woman" and for
"Justice League Part One," Deadline reported.
"Wonder Woman" will hit theaters June 23, 2017, and "Justice League" will follow on Nov. 17.
Although some WW and Justice League fans criticized Warner's remakes — many lambasting the "darker" visual tone taken in the movie clips — others are looking forward to seeing their favorite characters on the big screen.
"Really looking forward to both of these movies. The usual naysayers, who hate anything that is not a Marvel movie, can’t wrap their heads around a different aesthetic or unconventional casting choices," one person commented on the Deadline site. "If the CBM genre is going to survive long term, there needs to be varying tones and style. It’s certainly risky, but I’m on board and hoping WB/DC pulls it off."
