Macaulay Culkin fell victim to an Internet death hoax over the weekend, but instead of letting the chatter get out of hand, the former child star-turned-parody band frontman refuted the rumor by reenacting "Weekend at Bernie's."
The hoax spread like wildfire on social media last week after a link to a fake news story — "Breaking: Macaulay Culkin Found Dead At Age 34" — circulated on Facebook.
But the "Home Alone" star, who now plays in a pizza-themed Velvet Underground spoof band called Pizza Underground, is very much alive and proved as much with a series of Twitter photos on the band's page over the weekend.
In one picture, Culkin plays dead as his bandmates prop him up — a nod to the 1989 cult classic "Weekend at Bernie's."
Pizza Underground is currently on tour, appearing at the Fun Fun Fun Festival in Austin, Texas, on Saturday and making a pit stop in Louisiana.
