Angelina Jolie's "Maleficent" character was so scary that she creeped out every child who visited the set except for her own Vivienne, who starred alongside her, the Oscar-winning actress and humanitarian said.

"Vivienne was the only 4-year-old who wouldn't scream," Jolie said Saturday at the D23 Disney fan event, according to USA Today. "She and I got to be part of it together."

Elle Fanning plays the older Sleeping Beauty in the movie.

Speaking at the event in Anaheim, Calif., Jolie talked about how children responded to her character, whose horns were offset by glowing eyes, sharp cheekbones, and ruby red lips.

"People with little kids would visit the set, and I would think, 'I'm a Disney character,'" she said, laughing. "And I would go over to the children, and they'd scream and run off. One little kid even said, 'Mommy, please tell the mean witch to stop talking to me.' I guess we did a good job."

Jolie said she has been looking forward to playing the character for a long time. The film is due in theaters July 2, 2014.

"Since I was a little girl, Maleficent was always my favorite," Jolie said, according to Access Hollywood. "I was terrified of her, but I was so drawn to her. I wanted to know more about her – I wanted to know what she was like and who she was. She had this elegance and grace, and yet she was so cruel. Just wonderfully, deliciously cruel."

Disney promoted their next three movies in Phase 2 of the "Marvel's Avengers" franchise.

Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman, and Anthony Hopkins appeared to discuss "Thor: The Dark World," which will hit theaters Nov. 8. Hiddleston apologized to fans for not showing up as character Loki.

"I didn't bring (my costume)," Hiddleston told the crowd. "I'm not going to get this crowd to kneel. This is Disneyland."
