Mariah Carey: Tokyo Performance Hits a Bad Note to Open Tour (Video)

Mariah Carey opened her Elusive Chanteuse world tour in Tokyo Saturday on a bad note, with videos surfacing online showing the singer struggling to hit the right notes. 

GossipCop reported Carey had several problems during the show, but said at least one concert-goer reported things weren’t as bad as a few videos posted make them appear.

“There were definitely some problems, but overall she was pretty good,” an individual told GossipCop, explaining that there were problems with the microphone stand at one point and that cameramen were in the wrong areas.

And not all videos posted showed problems, including this one of Carey singing the well-known "I’ll Be There."

TMZ said it was possible some of the issues were caused by microphone problems but called the video performance “painful to watch.”

Many blasted the show and the Carey’s voice online, although local reviews of her performance were good.
