Mark McGwire isn’t interested in accepting apologies from Jose Canseco and doesn’t plan to have any contact with his former teammate.
“It's too late. I don't care to ever speak to him again,"
McGwire told ESPN Los Angeles. "What he did was wrong."

In 2005, Canseco wrote "Juiced: Wild Times, Rampant 'Roids, Smash Hits & How Baseball Got Big," in which he accused McGwire of using performance-enhancing drugs. Although McGwire later admitted to doing so, the ball players haven’t had anything to do with each other since.
That doesn’t mean Canseco hasn’t tried to apologize. He made an attempt last week while the two were at the Oakland A’s commemoration ceremony that highlighted the 25th anniversary of the team’s 1989 World Series win, ESPN said. Back then, Canseco and McGwire were at the top of their game and were nicknamed the “Bash Brothers” as they blasted the A’s to a win.
Canseco also showed up in 2012 at a St. Louis Cardinals game, where McGwire was the hitting coach, wearing a shirt that read, "Sorry for everything, Mark."
"I regret writing the book for sure," Canseco told ESPN. "I battled and fought with the thought of, 'I wish I never used chemicals or steroids.' But I don't see how back then when I was only 19, 20 years old, I didn't really know the situation."
Canseco took to Twitter late Wednesday, apparently after hearing about McGwire’s unwavering refusal to talk with him.
“Mark McGuire I know you're mad at me, but believe me.... No one is more mad at me than myself for writing that book,” Canseco tweeted. “I respected u as a player & person. Ive suffered more than anyone from writing this book..I don't know how else to say I'm sorry. - your fan.”
He also tweeted:
But then came back with another tweet, apparently still trying to reconnect, in which he said, “Mark let's do a hr challenge for charity. If I win will you forgive me :)”
